Mathew Parri Thomas creates things with cameras. At some point in his life people started to just call him Parri. Lots of Mathews about. He thinks it sounds exotic. It is in fact Welsh.
He went to University and studied ‘Digital and Lens Media’. Which roughly translates to ‘Photography and film making’.
He specialises in taking photographs of people. Capturing emotion and moment; be that one-on-one with a subject in a studio or photographing an event with an eye to make you feel like you were there. He does not specialise in writing biographies in the third person. (It makes me uncomfortable).
In the past Parri has shot for the likes of…
Balmain, Tangleteezer, ghd, Babyliss Professional, Professional Hairdresser Magazine, Professional Hairdresser Live, The Gadget Show, Polydor Records, XL Recordings, Atlantic Records, Virgin Records, Guitar Hero video game, Domino Records, The 405, Secretly Group Records, Erased Tapes, Turnstyle Music, The Line of Best Fit, Pulse Films, Popjustice, TOH! Magazine, The Times, London In Stereo, Tsugi, Zero Magazine, Soundvenue Magazine, The Homeless FA, The Street Football Association, Arsenal, Play with a Legend, Bake with a Legend, The Bike & Triathlon Show, Hitachi Power Tools, Grimshaw Architects.
Parri’s work has been published in the likes of The Times, The New York Times, The Guardian, The NME, Clash, Q Magazine, Mojo, London in Stereo, NPR, Pitchfork…
As well as working as a full time freelance photographer Parri is the Feature Photography Editor over at The Line of Best Fit.
He’s also pretty good at snowboarding. But that has nothing to do with photography.
